The introduction of Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) has sparked widespread discussion and debate. However, amidst all the fervor, a critical aspect is being overlooked - the looming threat of quantum computing. As countries like China and Russia make strides in quantum technology, the vulnerability of traditional encryption methods used in CBDCs becomes increasingly evident. The United States must take immediate action to prioritize the development of a quantum-resistant design for its CBDC, or risk being left behind in the race for secure digital currency.
